FSSC 22000 Version 7: a separate clock from the ISO revision

Scheme changePublished May 2026Last updated: 2026-10-19

In short: FSSC 22000 Version 7 was published in May 2026. Version 6 audits are permitted until 30 April 2027. Upgrade audits to Version 7 run from 1 May 2027 to 30 April 2028. After that, only Version 7 audits apply, and remaining Version 6 certificates are withdrawn after 30 June 2028. These dates come from the scheme, not from the ISO publication estimate.

Why this is a different change

FSSC 22000 is a certification scheme built on ISO 22000:2018, sector prerequisite programmes and the scheme's own additional requirements. The ISO revision changes the management system standard. The FSSC Version 7 change updates the scheme: it integrates the ISO 22002-x:2025 prerequisite programme series, aligns with the GFSI benchmarking requirements 2024, and adds scheme requirements and certification process controls.

The two clocks can land in the same audit cycle, but they are not the same event. A site holding FSSC 22000 should plan the Version 7 upgrade from the scheme dates. The ISO revision is a separate preparation item, and the ISO planning assumption on this site is not a scheme deadline.

What to do first

  • Check the version on the certificate and the next surveillance or recertification date.
  • Ask the certification body to confirm whether the next audit is a Version 6 audit or a Version 7 upgrade audit, in writing.
  • Update the prerequisite programme references to the ISO 22002-x:2025 parts that apply to the sector.
  • Run a gap analysis against Version 7, including the additional requirements and the audit duration change.
  • Book the upgrade audit inside the window, before the last V6 certificate is withdrawn.

What this site can and cannot tell you

The free check on this site has a separate FSSC pathway that uses the three scheme dates above. It does not reproduce the FSSC scheme text, and it does not decide whether your certification body will accept a particular upgrade plan. The scheme documents are free to download from the Foundation FSSC.
