ISO/DIS 22000:2026 · stage 40.60
Where the ISO 22000 revision lands in your certificate cycle, and what to prepare.
A revision-planning tool for ISO 22000: the requirements that apply today, the draft's clause titles and structure, suggested evidence, and one dated plan. The four new clauses carry the held FSSC 22000 and SQF obligation, with the DIS wording marked not held. Free to read, no account.
Check my scope and dates Read the clause record
Planning date 2027-09-12, an estimate from the ISO stage, not an ISO date. The full draft text is not free to read, so nothing here quotes it.
What the draft actually changes
Only what the public foreword and contents prove. Coverage of the draft is by title and structure. The four new clauses carry the held FSSC 22000 and SQF obligation, clearly labelled; the DIS wording is not held. The rest is labelled as inference.
Food safety culture
A numbered requirement where the current edition has none. The foreword names it; the detailed text is sold by ISO and not held here.
Food defence
Its own subclause under operational control. The current edition mentions intentional contamination only in a note.
Food fraud prevention
Its own subclause. The current edition mentions food fraud only in a note to context.
Complaints management
A clause of its own, where complaints were previously handled through communication, corrective action and review.
Selecting control measures
A new informative annex on the OPRP and CCP decision. Guidance, not a new requirement, and sold by ISO rather than free to read.
The improvement clauses move
Continual improvement moves to 10.1, nonconformity to 10.2, complaints is new at 10.3 and the system update moves to 10.4.

Free scope and date check
Six questions about your certificate and your readiness. One written verdict, with the rule that produced it. Nothing leaves your browser.
Most owners do not need another summary. They need to know whether the revision lands inside their current certificate cycle, whether their next audit is the transition audit, and what to fix first. The check answers those three questions from the dates you enter.
It uses the same record as the pages: the planning date, the four named additions and the fact that no transition arrangement is published.
What you get
- A verdict from a fixed vocabulary, not a score out of nowhere.
- The rule that produced it, in one sentence.
- What applies today, what to do first, and what an auditor will ask for.
- No account, no email, no upload.
The clause record
One page per clause in the public draft contents. The requirement that applies today, what the draft does to it, the evidence an auditor asks for, the common gaps and how to prepare.

Questions owners ask
What is ISO/DIS 22000?
It is the Draft International Standard for the third edition of ISO 22000, the food safety management system standard. The public contents show 54 clause entries and two informative annexes. A draft is not a published standard and cannot be certified against.
When will the new edition be published?
The planning date used here is 2027-09-12. It is an estimate from the ISO stage and the DIS ballot close, not an ISO date. Confirm the stage on the ISO page before you rely on it.
What changed in the revision?
The public foreword names food safety culture, food defence, food fraud prevention and complaints handling as additions, plus a new informative annex on selecting control measures. The public contents also show restructuring at 8.1, 9.2 and the improvement clauses.
Can I certify to the draft?
No. Certification is against a published standard. A draft can be read and prepared for, but not certified against, and its text can still change before publication.
Does the ISO revision change FSSC 22000?
Not directly. FSSC 22000 Version 7 is a separate scheme change with its own dates: Version 6 audits until 30 April 2027, Version 7 upgrade audits from 1 May 2027 to 30 April 2028, and Version 6 certificates withdrawn after 30 June 2028. See the FSSC page for the sources.
Do I have to transition?
Only if you want to keep a certificate to the current edition once it is withdrawn. Transition terms are set by your certification body and its accreditation body. This site does not set them.
Is this the official ISO text?
No. This is an independent reference. The full draft is not free to read (ISO sells it) and is not reproduced here. Requirements are stated in our own words from the held current edition, and draft changes are read from the public contents and foreword.
How much does it cost?
The clause record and the date check are free. The revision kit is USD 299 one off. The change watch is USD 29 a month.
What is in the kit?
A register with every clause and Annex A row, an evidence list and a dated plan, as PDF, CSV and XLSX. The specimen is free and labelled.
Does the check send my dates anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser from a static file. Nothing you enter leaves the page.
What if my certificate expires before publication?
That is a real decision point. Ask your certification body whether it will issue or renew a certificate to the current edition at your next audit and what expiry it will carry. The check names this case.
