The public record
The draft is not free to read: ISO sells it and national bodies sell it. What is public is the title page, the contents, the foreword and the introduction. That is enough to state the structure and the named additions, and not enough to state the wording of any new requirement. This page keeps that line.
The current edition, ISO 22000:2018, and Amendment 1:2024 are held in full. Every requirement on this site is our own statement of that held text. The draft column is read from the public contents and foreword. Where those do not carry a point, the page says the text is silent rather than filling it in.
The main changes named by the draft
Food safety culture
The draft foreword lists food safety culture as an addition. The public contents give it a numbered clause at 5.4. The detailed text is sold by ISO and not held here, so the requirement is not stated here.
Food defence
The draft foreword lists food defence as an addition. The public contents place it under operational planning and control at 8.1.2. The 2018 text mentions intentional contamination only in a note.
Food fraud prevention
The draft foreword lists food fraud prevention as an addition. The public contents place it at 8.1.3. The 2018 text mentions food fraud only in a note.
Complaints management
The draft foreword lists handling of complaints as an addition. The public contents give it a clause at 10.3. Complaints were previously handled through external communication, corrective action and review.
Selection of control measures
The draft foreword names a new informative annex about how control measures are chosen. It is informative, not a new requirement, and its text is sold by ISO and not held here.
Improvement clauses renumbered
Continual improvement moves from 10.2 to 10.1, nonconformity and corrective action from 10.1 to 10.2, complaints is new at 10.3, and update of the system moves from 10.3 to 10.4. Documents that cite the old numbers will be out of date.
Operational planning split
The single operational planning and control clause becomes a general clause, food defence and food fraud prevention. The public contents show the split; the detailed text is sold by ISO and not held here.
Internal audit split
The single internal audit clause becomes a general clause and an internal audit programme. The public contents show the split.
Policy and review consolidated
The public contents show these clauses without the subclause numbering used in the current edition. The content appears consolidated, which is an inference from the contents because the draft text is sold by ISO and not held here.
Climate change in context
The 2024 amendment added a climate relevance question to context and interested parties. The draft incorporates the amendment, so a current system should already answer it.
The dates
After the ballot the committee reviews the comments and decides whether the draft goes forward. The next committee meeting is noted in the committee document as November 2026, Buenos Aires. A final draft or a publication decision follows, and the text can still change. That is why the planning date is labelled an estimate and why the record watch exists.
What the draft does not prove
It does not prove the wording of any new clause, the exact audit evidence a certification body will require, the transition period, or the publication date. Those are either sold by ISO and not held here, or not decided. This record does not pretend otherwise.
Transition: what to re-date and when
No transition arrangement for this revision is held or published. Transition terms are set by the certification body and its accreditation body. The 2018 edition had a three-year transition from publication, ending 29 June 2021 under the accreditation arrangements of the time. That is a precedent, not a rule for this revision.
Counts
70 clause records, 11 Annex A steps, 2 Annex B sections, 254 evidence items. Each unit page cites its source and states the date it was retrieved.
