The requirement that applies today
The sixth Codex principle, at step 11, is to establish verification procedures that confirm the HACCP system is working. The current edition maps it to the control of monitoring and measuring, verification related to PRPs and the hazard control plan, and internal audit.
ISO/DIS 22000:2026, Annex A 10, Codex principle 6 and step 11: verify the system.
What the draft does
Mapped in the current Annex A to 8.7, 8.8 and 9.2; the 2026 table is sold by ISO and not held here: The 2026 contents keep those clauses and split 9.2 into a general clause and a programme. For this row the inferred 2026 destination is 8.7, 8.8, 9.2; that reading comes from the clause titles, not from the published 2026 table.

Why this clause matters
Verification is the independent check, and the clause requires the verifier not to be the person who monitors. Internal audit adds a system-level check. The 2026 contents keep all three destinations, and the draft splits internal audit into a general clause and a programme.
Suggested evidence to discuss with your auditor
For A.10, these are the artefacts we suggest discussing with your auditor. The standard publishes no evidence list, so this is our reading, not a requirement.
- A verification plan with purpose, method, frequency and owner
- Evidence that the verifier is independent of the monitor
- An audit programme that covers the system over a cycle
Where systems usually fall short
- The same person monitors and verifies
- Verification results filed but not analysed
How to prepare
Check who signs verification for each CCP. If it is the monitor, reassign it. Then check the audit programme covers the new clauses.
